online baby book

I had decided to abandon the blog because I've been posting pictures and so forth on facebook. Then it occurred to me that there would be no more documentation of what our girls are doing for them to look back on. SO, I'm back to the blog (in addition to facebook). Not as many photos here as there, but no stories and updates there, so it evens out.

I'm three months behind with updates now and so much happens so fast at this age that I'm only going to talk about what they're doing now and move forward.

Kate is able to throw a ball quite a distance and catch a balloon that is thrown to her. She also has counted from one to five a few times, but mostly mixes up the numbers. She likes to start everything with two. She also says "I love you, mommy" and is all about kissing and hugging and patting (a little too hard sometimes, but they're love pats).

Kate llloooves animals. She's all about dogs and cats and elephants right now. She can say the names of a couple of dozen animals and knows most of their sounds. Although, she prefers to just make their sounds these days.

She also loves to help. Mostly with cleaning, but there are several other things she's very helpful with. She thinks the beep of the rice cooker alarm is the smoke detector, so she runs to the kitchen, grabs a towel then heads down the hall waving the towel under the smoke detector. NO, we don't set it off all of the time, but it's happened once or twice in the past couple of months and she (being quite observant) learned what to do. It's adorable.

Another super cute thing she did yesterday - Lily decided to spit her yogurt out, so Kate ran over to get a washcloth out of the bin and proceeded to clean it up. So very helpful!

Miss Lily is a bit quieter with her skills, so we have to watch closely for them. She's very cuddly, kind of laid back and loves nothing more than for one of us to sit on the sofa in front of anything on TV so she can sit on our lap. She isn't terribly fond of kisses, but she's a serious cuddlebug. She'll snuggle in so tight that she feels like part of your own body. It's yummy. She knows the same animals Kate knows and their sounds. She also surprised us the other day by counting to six after not showing much interest in counting unless prompted.

Lily is a planner and quite determined when she gets an idea in her head. We can see her little wheels turning and know she's up to something. She will see Kate playing with something that she wants and will sneak up on Kate, grab it and run like the wind to the farthest corner then belly flop on top of it to keep Kate (or anyone else) from taking it back. In response, one would think Kate, being so much bigger and stronger than Lily, would go get it. But alas, she just looks stunned and says "oooohnoooo... " several times and either cries or goes and gets something else. It works in Lily's favor nearly every time.

They're still incredible eaters. Between the two of them, they eat the same amount as an adult. That's a LOT of food. Too, they've been good sleepers. As long as they're comfortable (not teething or sick), they sleep 12 hours at night and 1 - 2 hours in the afternoon. We're very lucky (thus far).

They both love to ride their tricycle and wear their bike helmets. They love Elmo, Barney, Big Bird and Noddy. They're so good with our cat (Dizzy) and going to the park is the highlight of the week. They love play dates and play very nicely and gently with other children. We've been taking them to indoor play areas and they have a blast. It's fun to watch them figure out how to climb and jump and so forth. Coloring is another favorite, but we're still working on no eating of crayons. I think they should make them taste really bad (with something non-toxic of course).

Overall, we have been blessed with wonderful, beautiful, strong, smart, healthy daughters. We couldn't be happier.
