Only a parent can understand the magnitude of my day yesterday. It was comfortably familiar. A day most would dread and be grumpy about Monday morning when reporting to pals of their weekend activities. To me - now, this is a distant pleasant memory come back to brighten my spirits and remind me that, although my "old normal" exists no longer and will never be again (that's a good thing, by the way), my "new normal" will include some "old normals" in time. Hold onto your hats new parents! Some day the time will come when you too will revel in... (drum roll) painting the bathroom. Yes, I painted the bathroom and it is lovely. Most of all, it was therapeutic. As important and sureally wonderful having and caring for twins is for me, my psyche needed to do something different - paint the bathroom. I feel like I'm taking my first vacation days in 4 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. The therapy continues today as David's gracious parents have agreed to care for the girls while we do some minor house repairs, run an errand or two (that requires both of us) and finish painting the bathroom. What a treat!
